McCann wins worldwide Sony Ericsson task

LONDON - Sony Ericsson has awarded its global advertising and communications account to McCann Erickson London, and the IPG network has also picked up the business in China, displacing incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi.

However, the Publicis Groupe agencies will continue to handle the mobile phone giant’s regional advertising in  Asia-Pacific.

Sony Ericsson’s VP of marketing for Asia-Pacific, Chris Lee, confirmed that the regional account would remain with Saatchis, run out of the Singapore office.

Dee Dutta, corporate VP and head of marketing at Sony Ericsson based in London, said: “Saatchi & Saatchi has done a good job for us so far, especially at a regional level, and will continue to be a partner of Sony Ericsson. We have very ambitious goals for the Sony Ericsson brand. We are looking at increased integration across all marketing disciplines including online, print, TV and retail as well as greater consumer engagement. McCann has a deep understanding of how this works and can help us to grow the brand globally even further.”
