McCann veteran back for fourth stint in HK office

Rosanna Yu is returning to work at McCann Erickson Hong Kong for the fourth time in her career, after starting in advertising there as an account executive in 1983.

She will take up her old post as MD in May, a role she vacated at the end of 2002 to spend time with her family. "As soon as the role became available, we immediately called Rosanna because we had a great working relationship," said McCann Hong Kong's chairman and ECD, Geoff Naus, who worked with Yu for three years before she left. "Rosanna understands the McCann system." Naus will act as caretaker MD until Yu takes up the post in May. Yu will replace Mike Wong, who is moving to China to set up Eight's office, possibly in Shanghai. Yu first left McCann in Hong Kong in 1988 to work in Canada, but returned to the agency in the mid '90s as a business director. She left McCann again in 1997 to become GM of Dentsu's Hong Kong operations, but rejoined to become MD in 1999. "My time with my family has been most rewarding. However, I am very excited about rejoining McCann," she said. Yu has also worked for JWT and DDB, as well as SmithKline Beecham in Canada. "Rosanna's first stint as MD proved she is a very effective professional and leader," said area director for McCann Greater China, TH Peng.
