McCann scores Tiger Beer BTL in Thailand

BANGKOK - Asia Pacific Breweries has awarded below-the-line duties for its Tiger Beer brand to McCann Worldgroup in Thailand, ending its relationship with Leo Burnett/Arc.

McCann won a pitch involving Burnett/Arc and two other undisclosed agencies.

The appointment follows the news last week (Media, 2 May) that alcohol advertising is to be heavily restricted in Thailand.

Other recent wins for McCann’s Bangkok office include K Bank, Siemens Corporate and additional work from L’Oréal and Nestlé’s ready-to-drink business at a time of change for the agency.

Prasan Osatananda, managing director of McCann Thailand’s digital and direct offering MRM, has been promoted to a new role of chief operating officer. He will
be responsible for integration, operations, business development and Government relations.

“This is a critical role in Worldgroup at a critical time in our development,” said McCann Worldgroup Thailand CEO Mark Ingrouille. “We have doubled in size over the last three years. We’re looking for accelerated growth in 2007. As we have grown, we must not grow apart - in fact, we must grow ever more together.”

Prasan has been replaced by Jinn Powprapai, who returns from the US after a 15-year stint working in Silicon Valley for digital and web-based direct marketing specialists. These include Infostreet and Chaidea, a web and DM company he founded.
