McCann pulls out of DiGi pitch

KUALA LUMPUR - McCann Malaysia has pulled out of a pitch for the youth and Malay marketing portion of DiGi, an account it has held since 2004.

Agency managing director Tony Savarimuthu confirmed the news, but said that McCann would continue to execute briefs from the client until advised otherwise.

"We will not be submitting an RFP to make presentations," he said. "Whether or not that will rule us out of contention is up to the client. We have worked with them [DiGi] for a few years now, and they know our strengths and our weaknesses."

The client would not return Media's calls at press time.

The remaining agencies in the pitch are Grey, DDB International and JWT.

The above-the-line creative account, made famous by the DiGi yellow man campaign from Naga DDB, is not affected by the review.
