McCann picks US exec for top AP job

Eric Einhorn has been named regional director of McCann Worldgroup Asia-Pacific, succeeding Max Gosling, 62, who will retire in February.

Einhorn is currently McCann Worldgroup EVP and chief strategy officer; he will retain this global post while adding the regional management role when he shifts from New York to Asia. Einhorn -- widely credited with helping McCann land the global Intel business in 2005 -- has spent over 10 years at the agency, including three years in his current position. He said his strategy background would provide opportunities for clients in Asia. "The advantage of being a strategy guy is that growth is all about strategy," said Einhorn. "Not just brand strategy, but the whole field of engagement strategy. I really think clients need the best of all our disciplines to cut through, and I think that will be an added value I can bring to the team." Einhorn will report to McCann Worldgroup chairman and CEO John Dooner, and formally begins his new role on February 1, although his base is still undecided. "I've now spent 20-odd years in New York and it's exciting to get back to the world where it's growing," he added. Gosling, for his part, retires after 26 years at IPG agencies. He joined McCann Japan in 1999 and took up the regional job in 2003.
