McCann lands Synergy Drive's US$16m account

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian palm oil conglomerate Synergy Drive has awarded its estimated US$16 million creative account to McCann Erickson.

An earlier round of pitching saw Leo Burnett and JWT go head to head. JWT then pulled out, so the client invited DraftFCB and McCann to contest the brief. The winner has been asked to roll out a brand platform created by sister IPG brand agency FutureBrand (Media 3 September).

Synergy Drive was borne of the RM29 billion (US$8.3 billion) merger of three Malaysian palm oil companies in November 2006 to create the world's largest biofuels producer.
