McCann Healthcare China wins HIV/Aids education assignment

SHANGHAI - McCann Healthcare China has been appointed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Ministry of Labour & Social Security as the communications agency for the US Department of Labour's HIV/Aids workplace education programme in China.

The two-year assignment will be aimed at rural migrant workers, one of the key at-risk segments of China’s population. They will be targeted by a nationwide programme spearheaded by the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, aimed at reducing both high-risk behaviour and HIV stigma and discrimination in the work place.

Though the overall HIV infection rate in China is relatively low at 0.05% of the population, the epidemic is growing steadily and is particularly prevalent in specific segments of the population.
