McCann-Erickson has beefed up its Hong Kong operation in a bid to
sharpen its competitive edge.
One of the major changes has been to reorganise its structure to make
the agency flatter and, therefore, more efficient and adaptable to
changing market conditions.
"In the past, our structure was vertical with a few large groups that
handled many accounts," McCann-Erickson Guangming, Hong Kong managing
director, Rosanna Yu, told MEDIA.
"To remedy that and focus attention on quality and efficiency, we
flattened the structure and re-organised staff into more groups with
fewer people."
Ms Yu, who has been at the helm for the past eight months, has also
restructured the senior management team.
They include Mr Roid Sin, formerly of Lintas, who comes in as media
director.
Mr Geoff Naus has been given the executive creative director's
assignment.
He had worked as ECD for long-time McCann client Cathay Pacific for the
past four years.
Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific consumer insight director David McCaughan has
relocated to Hong Kong from Thailand and his major task is to upgrade
McCann's strategic product.
He will implement the agency's proprietary strategic tools, manage the
training of local staff and be involved in local business
opportunities.
Ms Yu said, "This year we have one objective in mind: to push the agency
product and the creative, account servicing and media planning to new
highs."
