McCann completes Indonesia revamp

JAKARTA - McCann Worldgroup has completed the restructure of its Indonesian operation, with Somyot Chairat (pictured) moving from McCann Thailand to run the Jakarta office as country head.

The agency has also bolstered its creative team with the hire of Gautam Mehta from Grey Malaysia as ECD.

Somyot's appointment in Indonesia is a rare move for a Thai national, who takes on the role of managing director and country head. He replaces Jan Gerits, who left the company last year to return to the Netherlands.

Mark Ingrouille, Southeast Asia area director for McCann Worldgroup, said: "It was a really hard decision for me to lose Somyot from Bangkok. But I see this as a real career opportunity for him to grow personally and with McCann Worldgroup.

At McCann Thailand, Somyot ran Universal McCann as MD. He was also managing partner of Retail Momentum as well as chief integration officer of the Worldgroup structure.

He joins the Jakarta office with a brief to grow the agency's disciplines, relationship marketing offering MRM and McCann Healthcare, in particular.
