McCann camp to raise advertising levels at schools

McCann WorldGroup, Peking University and the Young Times Awards have set up a summer camp programme for university students majoring in advertising and marketing.

The camp, which has attracted 35 participants, allows students from universities across China to join a five-day training course and workshops offering further study in the development of advertising strategy, creative development and evaluation, idea generation, media planning, public relations, branding and integrated communi- cations. According to Tomaz Mok, MD at McCann-Erickson Beijing, there has been a significant increase in the number of students enrolling on advertising and marketing university courses. "Ten years ago there were hardly any advertising departments at universities."
