The agency - which has won accounts from the likes of Shanghai General Motors, President Foods and Yue Sai in recent times - has handed Jerry Kan the Shanghai executive creative director role, to go with his Taiwan executive creative director brief. Kan, who has spent 11 years at McCann Taiwan, played a leading role in the Shanghai GM and Yue Sai wins.
"After two years (of being ECD), he turned McCann Taiwan into very hot creative agency," explained McCann Worldgroup China CEO, T H Peng. "He's actually proved himself to be a very strong creative leader - for both award wins and grooming very strong creative talent."
In addition, three new managing directors have been announced, all resulting from internal promotions. Tomaz Mok, Wendy Tseng and Sharon Kum assume MD roles for the Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai offices respectively.
Mok was previously chief creative officer of McCann-Erickson China, while Tseng and Kum were vice-presidents of McCann-Erickson China.
Each managing director will also head McCann Worldgroup's operations in the three cities, which Peng sees as a reflection of the increasingly integrated nature of the network's operations in China - that include DM shop MRM Partners, promotion specialist Momentum, healthcare marketing agency Torre Lazur McCann.
"China is very complex and very dynamic, and the client really needs a very quick response from different disciplines," said Peng. "In this case, it's better for us to provide consolidated solutions to the clients."
