In a statement, M&C Saatchi’s Asia chief executive, Chris Jaques, predicted that the duo would be “the most exciting management team in Hong Kong advertising”. They will retain full creative responsibility along with the management role.
Handford, who joined the agency with Chan around 18 months ago, said that the focus would be on building “solid” local brands before venturing into more regional projects. He added that he and Chan would look to expand the “family unit” operating style established within the creative team across the agency as a whole.
In their creative capacity, Handford and Chan have recently led the agency in winning new business from clients such as Sharp, Hong Kong Broadband and the National Geographic Channel.
Jaques could not be reached for further comment on the news, but confirmed in the statement that the appointment would be effective immediately.
