M&C names ex-JWT senior exec to lead in Taiwan

M&C Saatchi Taiwan has appointed Clement Chen as its new general manager, as part of a move to enhance the agency's appeal among local clients.

Formerly client services director for JWT Taiwan, Chen has been tasked with overseeing the agency's wider operations, and changing M&C's reputation as a regional client specialist. "They have just changed their business strategy, because in the past they haven't placed that much emphasis on the Taiwan market," said Chen. "Right now, they're focusing more on Taiwan."

Chen said while his first priority was familiarising himself with the clients and learning his way around M&C Saatchi, he is already starting to look towards some senior hires in the first quarter of next year on both the account servicing and creative sides. M&C Greater China managing director Janice Chan said Chen's appointment was the next step in the agency's local market offering.

"We have never really had a general manager of that calibre, and we're very lucky to have Clement with us," said Chan. "We realised it was time to hire a seasoned local person to take the agency to the next level." Prior to JWT Taiwan, Chen spent four years at Publicis.
