M&C loses Ma to Ogilvy Activation Shanghai MD job

SHANGHAI: Ogilvy & Mather has named Jeff Ma managing director of Ogilvy Activation in Shanghai, ahead of an imminent restructuring.

The agency, which offers sales and promotion services in China, will expand its product line-up to integrated marketing communications in the new year. Ma, the former co-founder of M&C Saatchi Shanghai, said Ogilvy Activation acquired Coca-Cola and BP as clients after its launch last year. "We decided to reinvent Ogilvy Activation as a full, integrated service, so the team could provide existing clients and new prospects (with services) at every point of contact"

He added that the agency would hire creative and strategic planning talent in beefing up its offer. "Next year I will be focusing on new business development, building new contact and prospects," said Ma, who reports to Shanghai group MD Ian Thubron and Estela Kuo, MD for Ogilvy Activation China.
