M&C launches in Shanghai with existing clients
<p>SHANGHAI: M&C Saatchi has gained a China foothold, opening an </p><p>office in Shanghai on the back of established clients British Airways, </p><p>Qantas and Mercedes Benz and product launches for Coca-Cola and </p><p>Revlon. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The Shanghai operation - M&C's sixth in the region - is initially being </p><p>headed up by M&C Hong Kong chief executive officer Ian Thubron and </p><p>general manager Janice Chan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Chan said: "We'll review the situation after six months to ascertain the </p><p>best way forward. However, I am sure we will have a dedicated Shanghai </p><p>chief quite soon." </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The office has seven creatives and account handlers. All the </p><p>Shanghai-based staff have been recruited locally, which M&C Worldwide </p><p>chairman James Lowther described as "crucially important". Lowther </p><p>added: "The general theme today is localisation. If you are looking for </p><p>human insights to connect with people, local staff are the ones who will </p><p>do it." </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
