Mazda pitches China accounts

BEIJING - A number of agencies are reportedly lining up to pitch for advertising duties as Mazda prepares to launch its Mazda2 model and relaunch its Mazda3 marque in China.

At present the bulk of Mazda business is handled by DMG agency D3, including Mazda3, which first launched last year through Mazda’s joint ventures with FAW and Changan Automotive. However, it is believed that brand control is being centralised at Mazda’s Beijing HQ, after the company slowed down production of the car.

The Mazda2 subcompact, meanwhile, will be built at the Changan Ford Mazda plant in Nanjing. Globally, a significant amount of Mazda business is aligned with JWT and MindShare.
