Mazda appoints JWT on Thailand creative account

Mazda has handed its creative business to JWT with a view to establishing the 'Zoom Zoom' brand concept in Thailand.

The win, which covers cars, trucks, corporate and service, came after a two-way competitive pitch in early October against incumbent Haku-hodo, which held the business for the last four years. Clemenger BBDO had also been invited to pitch, but pulled out early on. According to Mark Webster, JWT Bangkok CEO, the agency already handles the business in Europe. "The challenge will be bringing the 'Zoom Zoom -- Passion in Motion' brand concept and identity to Thai consumers," said Webster. The 'Zoom Zoom' concept was started by the brand's US agency in 2000. Mazda competes in Thailand's car market with Honda, Toyota and Mitsubishi, and with Toyota and Isuzu in the truck segment.
