Maxus separates from Mindshare in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Maxus is to separate from Mindshare in Singapore and is hunting an MD for the market as it attempts to build a standalone regional network.

In Singapore the two agencies have been a joint operation under a single MD.

Neil Stewart (pictured), recently appointed CEO for Maxus Asia-Pacific, will now assume the role of acting managing director of Singapore, taking over from Sony Wong who was formerly heading both Mindshare and Maxus’ Singapore operations. The regional chief will also look to appoint a new leader for Maxus Singapore in the near future.

Stewart noted that Maxus was now an independent agency within the GroupM stable. “With shared leadership and some shared resources in the past, there has been understandable confusion as to our intentions for Maxus in Singapore. That ends today. We are a separate agency that will compete against Mindshare just as we compete against any other agency in the market”

He added: “Being such a critical market as the base for many regional clients it is critical that we get Singapore separate and focused, and over time offer something clearly different at Maxus to our other GroupM siblings - and of course the competition outside the group.”

Mark Patterson, CEO GroupM Asia-Pacific, added: “We are very serious about building a strong fourth regional network with Maxus, and for us to achieve those ambitions we need to ensure Maxus is as independent and separate as the other GroupM agencies - MediaCom, MEC and Mindshare.”
