Maxis Malaysia begins media review

KUALA LUMPUR - Maxis has called a review of its RM200 million (US$59m) media business, putting MindShare on alert.

Sources say that invited agencies, including MindShare, will meet with the client next month for more details. As with the creative review, only agencies that meet specified scale and scope are allowed to pitch.

Tom Shnitker, marketing director of Maxis, confirmed the news and simply said that a review was necessary for the same reasons as the creative review was held. In other words "We are looking for long-term agency partners to help us win the next phase of the market evolution in Malaysia," as he told Media in January (Media, 5 January).

News of the pitch comes less than a month after Maxis wrapped up its creative review, which retained Ogilvy and BBDO after a four-month process.
