Maxis hires Lowe for launch activity in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Maxis Communications has appointed Lowe to handle its advertising and promotions as the Malaysian telecommunications giant prepares to launch a new brand in Indonesia.

Maxis owns a 44 per cent equity stake in local telco operator Natrindo Telepon Seluler (NTS), and the company has plans to launch a new telco brand called Axis into the Indonesian market.

Lowe secured the business after a pitch with Ogilvy & Mather and local agency Oze, and has a brief to drive customer acquisition for Axis.

BBDO, which handles the business in Malaysia, will not be involved in the launch.

The win caps a stunning new business-winning streak for Lowe, which has recently secured Bank NISP, Bajaj Auto and a project for OCBC Bank.
