According to Paul Heath, president of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Asia Pacific, the move is reflective of an increasing focus on the Japan market following the account win of Coca Cola’s Sokenbicha - Japan’s leading tea brand - last September.
Heath added that Matheson had played an instrumental role in winning the business, having led the planning process for the pitch.
We see much more potential to grow in Japan, Heath said, explaining that the market suffered from a lack of strategic communications planning and was ready for a more complete process.
We’re going to build on the progress we’ve made with Sokenbicha, and ensure Japan remains firmly plugged in by bringing the region into Japan and Japan into the region, Heath said.
