Originally from Scotland, Matchett had been considering positions in India and China, and opted to join JWT India for several reasons, not the least of which was the chemistry with India CEO, Colvyn Harris. Said Matchett: "The role is impossible unless you can have a very good relationship with your partner. "
His agenda is to bring in expertise without suffocating what he described as "the boisterous sense of fun" that characterises the country's adver- tising. "I will be here for at least three years, hopefully longer. My job as national creative director will be finished once most creatives in the agency have achieved their potential."
