Macau to host 35th HATA convention

HONG KONG The Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents (HATA) has selected Macau for its 35th HATA Overseas Convention this month. HATA first held their annual event in Macau when it launched 35 years ago.

Scheduled for September 16 and 17, the convention will take place at the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel. HATA is expecting 200 delegates from Hong Kong will attend the event.

HATA executive committee member, Michael Wu, said:

“Macau is taking off but its software hardly meets the rapid pace. Given our expertise, we’d like to make it clear that Hong Kong plays a complementary Melbourne’s new convention centre is slowly taking shape role to Macau’s development.

Moreover, it’s vital to convey the message to the local trade about winning customers’ support by quality, but not price cutting.’

Jason Shum of Nam Hwa Express Travel Service is the chairman for the convention.

Keynote speakers include Yanny Kwan of Avis Macau and S.N. Chu from PC Tours.
