Loyalty programme in subscriber drive

Local loyalty scheme Octopus Rewards was on the verge of its third campaign since launch at press-time, with a multimedia push based on the tagline 'Octopus Rewards always exceeds your expectations' to communicate a new extra points promotion.

Octopus is hoping the campaign will boost both its membership base, already close to a million subscribers since launch last November, and the number of merchants joining the scheme.
Local retailers Arome Bakery, Chickeeduck, Fairwood Fast Food and recruitment agency 2030Rx all signed up this month, with Fotomax expected to come on board soon.
The ads, developed by Thematic Advertising, use a thought bubble motif to show people expecting one kind of reward but getting a better one instead.
The push ties in to promotions from some of Octopus Rewards partner companies, including McDonald's, Fairwood and Boots, that offer to boost the spending power of dollars collected with the Octopus scheme. The Chinese-language campaign was due to run for six weeks on television, print, radio and online.
