Lowe Jakarta wins Panamas, hires Sumedi as ECD

JAKARTA - Lowe Indonesia has strengthened its hold on the Sampoerna roster, winning the creative account for Panamas clove cigarettes after a five-way pitch.

Lowe, under new management since the appointment of Joseph Tan (pictured) from Ogilvy last year, saw off pitch contenders Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB, JWT and local shop Cabe Rawit.

Panamas joins the Hijau cigarette brand on Lowe's Sampoerna client list.

Meanwhile, the IPG agency has hired former Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore and 10AM Communications art director Din Sumedi as Lowe Jakarta's first executive creative director.

Most recently part of Ogilvy's regional creative team in Hong Kong, Sumedi becomes part of Tan's plans to improve the agency's creative output.

"When I arrived, raising the creative bar was my number one priority," said Tan. "I really needed a creative powerhouse to join me. Hopefully, he will act as a lighthouse to attract more top talent, both to Lowe and to Indonesia."
