Lockyer to join McCann Singapore as managing director

SINGAPORE - Simon Lockyer (pictured), GM of international accounts at DDB Singapore, is leaving the agency to join McCann Erickson Singapore in the newly-created role of MD.

McCann Singapore’s GM Vishal Mehta recently joined DDB Singapore as VP of client services.

Mark Ingrouille, Southeast Asia director of McCann WorldGroup confirmed the news and said that Lockyer’s appointment comes at the end of “a long, nine month review of potential candidates.”

“His appointment is to manage our recent growth and to focus on building our local and regional business and work in close partnership with our ECD, Farrokh Madon, engagement director, Subodh Despande and other leaders to form a tight-knit energetic team.”

Lockyer has worked in Asia for the last 14 years with stints at Bates 141 as the international business director on Nokia business and as a regional group account director at DDB Singapore.

David Tang, president and CEO of DDB in Singapore said, that DDB would not be looking to replace Simon “like-for-like”.

“We’re fitting our talents around our clients. Vishal Mehta has given us a different sort of strength, capacity and team leadership, so he will assume some of Simon’s role and much more. We like to structure the agency to fit the clients and our talents.”

In addition to Lockyer’s appointment, the agency has promoted Dorothy Yew to the newly created position of head of account management; and Nicci Millar as head of new business development.

Yew has fifteen years experience in the business and was most recently at McCann Erickson in Bangkok. She has previously worked with DDB Singapore, Leo Burnett Singapore and M&C Saatchi in London.

According to Ingrouille, Yew’s role “ is to unite and focus the skills of account management to increase integrated efforts across our disciplines as well as bring consistency to our key client relationship teams.”
Millar, meanwhile will head new business drives at McCann Singapore. She has been with McCann for the last 15 years and currently heads up the Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson and other businesses.
