Under Godmother, Locke will mentor creative and managing directors. “It’s a tough leap to make from being an art director, where you’re only responsible to your partner, to suddenly being in charge of 40 people,” Locke said.
“Some people just find it difficult dealing with all the different characters in creative and studio departments. I think I have a lot of experience in this and can help guide them.”
Locke added that she has no plans to expand Godmother beyond Singapore, “but that depends on circumstances”.
Currently, Locke is putting her mentoring skills to test at Burnett Singapore, and will make stops to other Burnett offices in the region. She has also been spearheading Engage 2007, a two-day industry conference sponsored by Burnett and Arc, slated for this September.
Locke was forced to relinquish her regional ECD role last December, after nearly a decade at the agency, as part of the Publicis Groupe’s executive restructuring to streamline its global operations.
During her 30-year career, Locke has also worked at Hardy Amies in London, Batey Advertising and Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore.
