Liu will run the agency's day-to-day operations, and will report to Ann Yang, Batey Taiwan's CEO. The appointment, effective 1 November, will help strengthen Batey's grip on China Motor, which the agency won in 2004.
Liu worked with GM while at McCann (2004 to 2006) and Ford while at JWT (1999 to 2004).
"Lotus brings with her 17 years' experience in the industry, above- and below-the-line," said Yang. "She's a well-rounded talent with a great reputation, but of most value to us is her experience of the motoring sector, as China Motors is our biggest client."
Liu left McCann in September and will remain on leave until next month.
