Lee steps into DDB creative role as Pong quits

HONG KONG - DDB Hong Kong group creative chief Christine Pong is departing the agency after two years in the role.

Pong will be replaced by former Leo Burnett China executive creative director Ruth Lee.

“I think I’d like to pursue an area in which I can enjoy more creative freedom,” said Pong, “and probably have a stronger relationship and partnership with the CEO.”

Pong said she would be moving into a role at another Hong Kong agency in 2008.

Lee joins DDB after departing Leo Burnett earlier this year after two stints at the agency over almost a decade (Media, 14 May).

“We are really pleased to have lured Ruth back to Hong Kong,” said DDB president and CEO Richard Thomas.

“Having spent the last six years in Shanghai, Ruth has gained a deep understanding of the Chinese market and appreciates the finer nuances of the two markets.

“She will be a real asset to our Hong Kong agency at a time when the communications industry is evolving and redefining itself in Greater China.”

Pong, meanwhile, joined DDB in 2005 from Bates Asia, 20 years after she started her career at the agency.
