Leading industry players launch global energy conference alliance

PATTAYA Three leading convention bureaux and a convention centre have announced the launch of 'Energy Cities Alliance' at the 46th ICCA Congress and Exhibition held in Pattaya last month.

The founding alliance partners are Aberdeen Convention Bureau, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority,
Perth Convention Bureau and Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. Each city has its own green policies and initiatives that are aligned with each other.

A key focus of the alliance is the exchange of sales leads, to be known as the ‘Energy
Transfer Advantage’, that also incorporates a support package for conference organisers.

The major benefits available to planners include lobbying and marketing support within
the partner destinations to maximise delegate registrations for their conferences.

A website has been created to provide planners with conference packages and links
to the partners’ websites.

Perth Convention Bureau general manager, Christine McLean, said: “Given today’s competitive environment, there is the need to develop strategic alliances that enable the partners to leverage their collective knowledge and skills to give them a marketing edge.

“While the common link is that we are centres for thriving energy industries, the scope of
our alliance will extend beyond energy-related conferences.”
