LEADER: Huawei puts money where its mouth is

China has made no secret of the fact it wants its corporate brands to be as successful in the West as American and European brands are in Asia. And Chinese companies are moving towards that goal at a rapid pace.

However, it is telecommunications equipment and solutions provider, Huawei, which is among the Chinese brands which have taken the lead.

Huawei's recent appointment of DDB Hong Kong to develop global branding campaigns underscores the seriousness of its intentions. More are expected to follow suit over the next few years, with Western brands having a much tougher time of it, even in their home markets.
