Lammin lands top new role at Time

Alan Lammin has left Business Week after more than 20 years to join rival Time magazine as publishing director for Asia.

Lammin, who was most recently vice-president and managing director Asia for Business Week, supervising sales and marketing across the region, will take up his new post on April 1. He will be responsible for Time's sales and marketing initiatives across Southeast Asia and will be based in Hong Kong. Lammin will report to Ed McCarrick, Time's New York-based worldwide publisher. The new role, which sees Lammin positioned as the most senior person on the business side at Time in Asia, replaces the associate publisher role, formerly filled by Ivy Choi, who left in January. Lammin started his career in Japan and worked with Business Week for more than two decades. In his last position with the title, he also managed Business Week China and the Business Week executive pro- gramme/conferences. Prior to that, Lammin was vice-president Japan and Korea for Business Week. Lammin could not be reached for comment, but in a statement, he said: "English remains the 'lingua franca' of world commerce and of dialogue among the elite, hence a brand like Time is supremely positioned to build and expand on Asia's success story."
