Lam to join TBWA in Shanghai as ECD

HONG KONG - Carol Lam, McCann Erickson Cathay Pacific Central Team's executive creative director, will vacate her post early next year, with Sylvester Song moving up to lead the airline's creative.

Lam, who leaves the agency after three years in the role, will take up the role of ECD at TBWA\Shanghai in the new year, taking over a position previously held by Yang Yeo.

Song, a former Ogilvy creative, has been with McCann since September 2005 and has won numerous regional and international awards. “We have always had a succession plan in place. When we hired Sly, it was always in the expectation that he would one day replace Carol,” said Vince Viola, EVP, MD, Cathay Pacific Central Team, McCann Erickson.

“When you have a focus on just one business, the most you can get out of a senior creative talent is two to three years. Carol has achieved everything that she set out to; lifted creative standards, and integrated digital and marketing services. Sly has been her partner throughout.”

Lam began as a copywriter with Saatchi & Saatchi. Her 17-year career has included postings with Leo Burnett, JWT, Ogilvy and McCann.

Erickson. Lam has remained focused on building brands - and sales - through effective creative communications.
