Khanna picks his successor as WPP raises stake

NEW DELHI: Kamal Oberoi has been appointed president of WPP Group's Indian agency, Hindustan Thompson Associates (HTA).

Filling a newly-created post, Oberoi will report to Mike Khanna, HTA's chief executive officer. Oberoi, who currently heads the Delhi office as senior vice-president and general manager, has also been chosen to succeed Khanna, when he retires next year.

The move ends speculation on the succession issue at India's largest agency network, following news of Khanna's retirement and a decision by WPP to increase its stake in HTA from 60 to 74 per cent at a cost of US$11.9 million.
