KFC picks agencies for Cambodia launch

PHNOM PENH - Kentucky Fried Chicken has selected its agency line-up ahead of its official launch in Phnom Penh next month, when KFC will become the first western restaurant chain to set up in Cambodia.

KFC's first outlet has already opened for business, however a launch event - executed by independent shop BrandSolutions - will mark the brand's official opening in the Kingdom.

Red Dot, an agency affiliated with Omnicom's OMD, will handle the above-the-line advertising - but under consultation from BBDO Kuala Lumpur, the fast food chain's agency in Malaysia.

Media buying will be done through Bassac Orchid, which has connections with JWT.

Benjamin Jerome, the deputy general manager of KFC Cambodia, said the company expects to spend US$1 million on advertising in KFC's first year in Cambodia.

Most of the budget will go on TV, with support from out-of-home and below-the-line promotional activity.
