The top award in 2004 went to a J. Walter Thompson campaign for Pepsi in India focusing on the cricket World Cup, the second year running an Asian promotion has scooped the prize following last year's victory by TBWA Korea for SK Telecom. Meanwhile, Korea's Andrew Oh, international marketing manager for LG Electronics, was named international promotion marketer of the year.
Asia-Pacific judge for this year's Globes, Mike Da Silva, MDSA Promotion Marketing CEO, said that Asian creativity had asserted itself despite operating with smaller budgets than more developed markets.
"Asia is producing effective campaigns on a par, in terms of creativity and execution, with all promotion users around the world," he said.
