JWT triumphs to win best of show at Creative Circle

SINGAPORE: J. Walter Thompson Singapore's anti-smoking poster campaign, 'Vicious cycle', picked up the Best of Show at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards 2003, the first time the agency has won the top honour.

A total of 139 awards were presented to 24 winners; the top three winning agencies were Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett and Saatchi & Saatchi.

JWT's anti-smoking campaign, commissioned by the Health Promotion Board, was aimed at teenagers, appealing to their senses by zeroing in on the effects of smoking on sexual performance and looks.

Said JWT executive creative director Southeast Asia Norman Tan: "In Singapore, the work done for previous anti-smoking campaigns was very literal. 'Vicious cycle' hooked on a very powerful insight and had an unusual execution. And for a Government body to accept this work, the client was indeed brave and creative."
