The WPP shop is set to land the business after a pitch involving incumbent and globally-aligned agency Leo Burnett as well as Fareast DDB - McDonald's other global network of record, sources said. However, McDonald? stated that no decision has yet been made.
The move will come as a further blow to Leo Burnett, which lost the S$10 million (US$7 million) McDonald's business in Singapore in October last year to DDB, and the fast food giant's 450 million pesos (US$8.2 million) advertising account in the Philippines in November 2005, also to DDB.
Last October, the McDonald's franchise in Thailand was acquired by local entrepreneurs Vicha Poolvaraluck and Hester Chew.
