Joint venture to run China building fairs

Bologna-Fiere and CMP Sinoexpo have established a joint venture company in China to organise two major trade fairs in the country.

By Mark Armsden HONG KONG Bologna-Fiere and CMP Sinoexpo have established a joint venture company in China to organise two major trade fairs in the country. Expo Build China and Ceramics, Tile & Sanitary Ware China are held annually in Shanghai in April. Expo Build China will be staged for the 12th time from April 6-9, 2004 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Previously operated by CMP Sinoexpo under a different brand name, the fair is the foremost showcase and trade platform for medium and high-end construction materials for the Chinese market. Running at the same time and place with Expo Build China is Ceramics, Tile & Sanitary Ware China, the largest fair for ceramic tiles and sanitary products in China. Together, the fairs take up 35,000sqm of exhibition space and attract more than 500 exhibiting companies and 40,000 visitors. CMP Asia president and chief executive Mr Peter Sutton said: "The joint effort of BolognaFiere's leading position in the construction industry in Europe and CMP Sinoexpo's strong position in China will develop Expo Build and Ceramic shows to be the biggest shows of their kind in the growing Asian market."
