JCDecaux poised to buyout Texon network in SAR

Outdoor giant JCDecaux is thought to be in the final stages of a takeover of local Hong Kong firm Texon Media. If the deal were to go ahead, it would give JCDecaux control of outdoor advertising of the SAR's major bus routes, currently operated by Texon.

Such a move would further extend the outdoor giant's reach in Greater China, following its recently announced purchase of MediaNation, which brokers key metro and bus routes in the mainland's biggest cities.

JCDecaux's Asia-Pacific CEO, Jean Michel Geoffroy, declined to comment on the possiblity of a deal with Texon, saying the company was focusing on the purchase of MediaNation. He said JCDecaux was pursuing an opportunistic growth strategy in Asia. "The market is bullish," he said. "We are very positive."

In a separate announcemnt Aegis has bought the second largest outdoor network in the Philippines belonging to JKJ Media Services. JKJ's client roster includes Alsaka, Cellsite, Coca-Cola, Nokia, Piltel and Smart.
