Jaques to lead M&C and expand Clear

ASIA-PACIFIC - New M&C Saatchi Asia CEO Chris Jaques has revealed that he will look to extend UK branding firm Clear's footprint to this region, in a bid to make the flagging agency more relevant to Asian clients that need concrete innovation strategy.

M&C bought Clear, which has offices in London, Amsterdam and New York, this year. Jaques takes the M&C role almost a year after resigning his position as Y&R North America CEO. He succeeds Kim Walker, who spent three years at M&C, an agency that has struggled since losing its anchor British Airways client.

“It’s in profit, but needs a  lot of work,” said Jaques, who takes a minority double-digit stake in the agency. While some offices - India, Hong Kong and Malaysia - have had strong years, others, most notably Thailand and Singapore, have struggled.
