While Jaques declined to comment, the veteran adman reportedly tendered his resignation within the last week. Sources revealed that a combination of personal and professional factors lie behind his decision to depart the Y&R network after more than three years. Jaques initially resigned his position as Y&R Asia chairman and CEO in June 2006, a move that was reportedly prompted by the ascension of Y&R Australia chief Hamish McLennan to global CEO at the agency.
Accordingly, the decision to accept the North America CEO position in August 2006 was met with some surprise. While Jaques's next destination remains unclear, sources said that he is in talks with networks in the region, or may start up his own operation.
