iTV Thailand handed reprieve

BANGKOK - Thailand's Council of State has overruled a decision made by the Prime Minister's office to shut down iTV, handing the TV station a reprieve.

The station is to be renamed TITV, and temporarily run by state-owned Channel 11, following a hearing by the Council of State yesterday.

There will be changes to programming, personnel and possibly salaries however, according to Pramote Ratthavinij, chief of the Public Relations Department (PRD), which runs Channel 11.

Outstanding fines incurred by iTV are still due.

The PRD will manage TITV until a decision is made on its permanent administration.
