ITV Bangkok shuts down

BANGKOK - Broadcaster iTV has been shut down, in a surprise decision by the Thai Cabinet that immediately affects over 1,000 iTV employees and 150 supplier companies.

The announcement was made after this afternoon’s Cabinet meeting, where many expected to hear that the Government would take control of the station.

Instead, the network will be taken off air at midnight and over 1,000 iTV employees and 150 supplier companies face their last day of work tomorrow.

However according to a source at the station, many employees had already been bracing for the worst. “I think most of us will stick together and hopefully try to go back on air in the future,” he said.
