Now in its second year, the show sold out its 6,200 sqm of space and the number of
exhibitors increased 60% to 200 this year compared to the inaugural show last year.
The fair featured matchmaking sessions, an exhibition, seminars on the MICE market in China,
social events, and pre- and post-show tours.
Country pavilions from Brunei, Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, Malaysia and Singapore were among the National Tourism Organisations to exhibit.
Half of the 330 buyers were from China, with the others from 31 countries and regions.
One buyer, Shirish N. Trivedi, president of NSN Enterprises based in the US, said:
“There are a lot of big booths for the hotel groups and the regional tourism boards like
Singapore and Macau, but I don’t see that many Chinese tourism bureaus.”
He added: “For me, the discovery was Dalian and Guilin – I never knew about these
destinations before.
“We want to take our clients to other places within China but there’s just not enough
information sometimes.
Darren Ng, managing director of IT&CM China, said: “We believe that the format of
the show differs from other trade exhibitions in China, in that it is a focused MICE trade event
for the China market with prescheduled appointments between prequalified Chinese buyers and sellers as well as those from the international front.”
The next edition of IT&CM China will take place in Shanghai from April 15 to 17, 2009.
