Iris Singapore launches Effies spoof stunt

SINGAPORE - Iris Singapore has released a series of spoof films online based on industry personalities' views that were taken during the local Effies awards.

MAIE TV, a pseudo company created by Iris, were granted access to the awards show by the Institute of Advertising Singapore to film the night and the subsequent footage featuring debates on effectiveness and scam advertising had been released online (www.maietv.com) for discussion.

Richard Bleasdale, regional CEO for Iris, explained: We started this project as a means of capturing a moment in our agency’s history, our first success at the Effies. But when we got talking to people, we realised there are many important issues that we as an industry need to be debating and discussing more openly.

This initiative is intended to provide a platform for this to happen. We look forward to getting people talking more openly about the things that really matter in our industry.

Dan Saxby, MD at Iris Singapore, added that the films were not intended to upset anyone, MAIE TV was intended to provoke debate and challenge the status quo in the Singapore advertising industry

In fact, we have not included a lot of footage that we felt could be harmful to any individual or agency and as the night wore on, there was plenty of material of that kind.
