INX poised for Asian expansion

HONG KONG - Indian cable content producer INX Media is looking to diversify its offering with international expansion in Asia, the Middle East and the US, according to chief strategy officer Peter Mukerjea (pictured).

Mukerjea said that the company, which launched Hindi general entertainment channel 9X in India last year along with music entertainment channel 9XM and news service NewsX, was currently examining the potential of the Hong Kong market for expansion. He added that with Singapore government-owned investment company Temasek Holdings as an investor, Singapore and Malaysia were also attractive markets for development.

In addition, as India’s only HDTV-ready provider, INX was in a strong position to take its offering to the US, he noted. The company already has a presence in the UK and the Middle East.

The channels are not just reserved for India, Mukerjea said, adding that the company was proud to be a part of the new India. If we can create world-class products, there is no reason why they can’t be available to people around the world.
