INTERNET WEB BRIEFINGS: Ericsson, SmarTone offer phone email

<p>Ericsson and Hong Kong telecom network provider SmarTone have </p><p>jointly developed General Packet Radio Services (GPRS), a form of mobile </p><p>phone Internet technology. Mobile phone users will be able to send and </p><p>receive emails, browse the Web, utilise a host of future services and at </p><p>the same time conduct voice conversation. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>GPRS is a new technology for transporting data over GSM mobile networks; </p><p>and the Ericsson-SmarTone venture successfully demonstrated live </p><p>multiple GPRS calls with Internet surfing, email handling and FTP file </p><p>transfers. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
