INDIA: Publicis windfall as L'Oreal hands over $4m tasks

MUMBAI: Publicis India has picked up the advertising assignment for the entire Garnier, Colour Naturals and Synergie ranges from L'Oreal India.

The new gains will be worth approximately US$4 million for the agency.

The agency will also be working closely with L'Oreal on a number of brands still at the development stage, some of which are being specifically developed for the India market.

Param Saikia, chief operating officer, Publicis India, said: "This is a vindication of the increasing sense of confidence that L'Oreal has in Publicis India. Over the last year, there has been a greater cohesiveness with the international network which has been complemented with strong local input. All this has led to an increasing sense of confidence in Publicis."

Publicis' gain has been Interface's loss - the subsidiary of FCB Ulka had been handling the brands since their launch in India. L'Oreal globally is a Publicis client, with its business split between Publicis and McCann-Erickson.

This is the second global account win in a short time for Publicis - Allied Domecq signed on with the agency in October, and its flagship Teacher's brand, along with the Teacher's Achievement Awards are handled by Publicis.
