Inaugural BikeAsia draws 2,000 trade visitors to Singapore Expo

SINGAPORE BikeAsia 2008, the first international trade show in Singapore dedicated to bicycles, motorcycles, accessories and components, drew about 2,000 trade visitors and 15,000 consumers to Singapore Expo from April 10 to 13. It was an Asian extension of the famous Milan Motorcycle Show.

Live motorbike and bicycle performances and stunts added to the interest of gleaming
motorbikes such as those displayed by Piaggio and Ducati, while Cannondale presented
debut products.

Most of the prestigious motorcycle brands were from Italy, whereas the US, Japan and
Indonesia were well represented for bicycles.

Visitors on the two trade days came mostly from Singapore and the Asean countries, India,
Australia and Japan.

Many exhibitors found agents and representatives for their products, and some even
sold their exhibits to their new-found agents.

Organiser and managing director of BikeAsia, Roberto Fabbri, said: “The regional nature of the exhibition and a recent change in the approach towards two wheels in the local society contributed to the success of the show.”

He also cited Singapore Expo as a good venue for motorrelated exhibitions, particularly the vast, column-free space. “Another good thing here is the great service; we are very happy
with the Singex staff.”
